David Swanston
As a Gold Card holder who uses it to travel to Manchester from Glossop I am appalled that DCC is considering ending the subsidy for that off-peak train journey. Manchester is the centre of gravity for our ecconomy and culture and the train ...is the obvious way to travel. Glossop has become increasingly isolated and under-served with its lack of a public hall and a library that would be a disgrace for a small village. As a pensioner I depend on the Gold Card discount to afford the journey to the city. The message is growing that that DCC doesn't understand or care about Glossop and its residents.

Quote from a report to HPBC's capital expenditure sub committee:

"Customer First – County Council funding of £750,000 was initially anticipated for this
project; latest projections are suggesting only £330,000 is now likely to be secured from
this source."

http://www2.highpeak.gov.uk/council/agenmin/capital-expenditure/part1/20100204/03.pdf

I'm afraid your reference to Derbyshire County Council's contribution to the Customer First programme is incorrect. The county council hasn't as yet agreed a specific contribution and it is therefore wrong to specify a figure and say that it has been halved.

Nick Hodgson
Chief Executive
Derbyshire County Council
